The salt lake lies at the gateway to the Ngorongoro Crater and can be reached from Arusha after just 115 kilometers.
The nature of the national park is absolutely worth seeing, even if not the same number of wild animals can be seen. Between the steep rock walls of the African Rift Valley and a narrow strip of green, the calm lake shows itself in all its splendor.
The pink flamingos and pelicans form a picturesque backdrop. A little further back, herds of zebras graze in the steppe and elegant klipspringers hop through the grass. The heavy hippos also enjoy the lake and huge monitor lizards sunbathe on the lake shore and in the swamps.
A special highlight are the lions climbing trees.
